Crocus Project

14th Nov 2021

As part of SESE the girls have been looking at and studying the life of Anne Frank. Anne Frank was a young Jewish woman who wrote a diary about her life in hiding from the Nazis in World War II. Anne Frank along with her sister and mother died in the Holocaust during WWII.

In memory of Anne Frank and the millions of Jewish people who died during this terrible time, the girls planted crocus bulbs. The yellow flowers of the crocus recall the yellow Stars of David that Jews were forced to wear under Nazi rule. The Crocus blooms around the end of January, about the time of international Holocaust Memorial Day (27 January). When people admire the flowers, the pupils explain what they represent and recall the children who perished in the Holocaust.
