Glasnevin Cemetery Tour
6th class went to Glasnevin Cemetery on Friday 8th December. The sun came out for us as we walked around this historic site.🌈
Our guide, Niamh, was so knowledgeable and provided us with so many interesting facts about the “dead centre of Dublin”. We heard about great Irish leaders such as Eamonn De Valera, Countess Markievicz and Michael Collins and saw their graves. We visited Daniel O’Connell’s crypt in the round tower. Heard about the woman who inspired the famous song ‘Grace’. Niamh even told us how dogs are now allowed into the cemetery thanks to none other than Ariana Grande!
How lucky we are to be so close to such an important place of Irish history. A great day out!
