Meath Travellers Workshop
14th Sep 2023
Today a group from the Meath Travellers Workshop visited the school. The group highlighted some cultural traditions associated with the Travelling Community.
The girls saw a tinsmith make a jug using methods that haven’t changed in decades. They heard how some Travellers used to live in a wattle tent or a wagon. Did you know that if it was your first time entering a wagon you had to make a wish?!
Finally they heard that are the centre of the travelling community is family and faith. We heard that in every camp people would gather around the fire to cook food and listen to stories.
