Science Week 2021
Science Week 2021 ran from 8th to 12th of November. In Room 21, we familiarised ourselves with the different areas of science; biology, chemistry and physics.
In biology we studied how plants drink water and how bulbs store energy in order for a flower to grow in spring. In our experiment, we used food colouring to see what would happen to cut flowers.
We conducted two experiments in chemistry. In one we saw how washing up liquid reacts with milk. Using food colouring again we were able to witness the fat of the milk separating in front of our own eyes!!
In the other we used baking powder and vinegar to blow up a balloon. Which mixed together, the two react to omit CO2 gas which blows up the balloon.
Lastly the girls worked in their pairs to try form the longest paper chin using only one piece of A4 paper. Congratulations to Maia and Aoife who fought off stiff competition to win!
